One of the main attractions of our West Sussex luxury beach houses is the village of Angmering-on-Sea in which they nestle. The beach, of course, is the main gem, providing a huge expanse of sand that’s dog friendly all year round. Perfect for a stroll in the sunshine, or to enjoy from a viewpoint of your choice. Whilst quiet and peaceful, the area does offer everything you need to comfortably enjoy your stay without having to venture too far. The popular Clockhouse Bar and Tudor Tavern both provide a pleasant atmosphere in which to enjoy a quiet drink, and The Sea Horse Cafe is a great place to grab breakfast, lunch, or just a quick snack.
That said, if you’re keen on creating culinary delights in the comfort of your beach house kitchen, a general store is within walking distance, as well as The Clockhouse Deli, which offers a range of fresh produce, fine wines and local ales, perfect for picking up fresh essentials.
Of course, you may wish to travel slightly further afield for food, sights and entertainment, and it has to be said, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Close to Angmering-on-Sea is the picturesque town of Arundel. Proud of its Castle and Cathedral, the town is steeped in history, and is perfect for those looking to see the sights and learn about the local area. The streets are lined with independent shops, restaurants and cafes, so whether you’re after retail therapy, afternoon tea, or a delicious evening meal, Arundel has it covered. The Arundel Festival is held over two weekends in August, and provides those who attend with an array of music events, food and drink, art displays, and a buzz in the air that you can’t help but enjoy.
An attraction situated a short drive from the location of our holiday properties is Goodwood, popular for Glorious Goodwood horse racing, motorsport, and a wide range of leisure activities. It’s home to the famous Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival, which are held in the summer months. Both are extravaganzas of motorsport and aviation.
Chichester is also a place that anyone wanting to explore the local area must visit. A city rich with culture and history, Chichester blends together popular attractions and an extensive shopping experience. At its heart is Chichester Cathedral, famous for its stunning Victorian spire and visible from miles around, the Cathedral is open to visitors every day of the year with free entry. The shops that line the streets of the city are the perfect mixture of high street and independent, so there’s something for keen shopper that visits. An evening out in Chichester has something for everyone too, thanks to vibrant bars, a diverse range of restaurants, and the famous Festival Theatre.
The surrounding countryside in general boasts many attractions, all within a reasonable distance from the luxury beach houses. These include the beautiful gardens at Uppark, Denmans Gardens and West Dean, as well as walks across the downs, through the Sussex weald, and along miles of picturesque coastline. The Cowdray Estate nearby is popular too, offering polo, golf, and a wide range of other leisure activities. Another popular destination a short drive from the beach houses is Petworth, famous for its stately home and nearby antique shops. For those looking for that city atmosphere whilst staying in our beach houses, a short journey along the coast brings you to Brighton, a place that combines the fun of the seaside with shopping, music and culture.
