The first main event of 2016 at Goodwood is the 74th Members Meeting. Primarily for Goodwood Road Racing Club members, but with some tickets reserved for non members, the event kicks off the season, where attendees are treated to a grid of cars from the last 90 years of motorsport. There’s also games for younger attendees, lots of food and drink, and a party on the Saturday night, making it perfect for all the family. This year, the 74th Members Meeting takes place from 19-20th March.
The Goodwood members meeting was started in order to recreate the atmosphere and camaraderie of the original BARC Members’ Meetings held at Goodwood through the 1950s and 1960s. As well as a full programme of racing, the members meeting is an opportunity to watch never-before-seen cars demonstrate their capabilities at Goodwood. Races taking place this year includes the Gary Marshal trophy, for group 1 touring cars raced up to 1982, and the Brooks trophy, for 2.5 litre Formula 1 cars raced from 1954 to 1960.
The party that takes place on Saturday 19th is one to look forward to – stages are set up for live music and dance, and there’s a procession that includes a fire breathing dragon! A selection of different places to eat and drink are dotted around the event, and the entertainment is suitable for all ages. A party wouldn’t be a party without fireworks, and a spectacular display ends the evening with a bang.
At the moment, two of our beach houses are available as luxury accommodation for Goodwood’s 74th Members Meeting, and are just a short drive away. The first is Angmering-on-Sea Beach House, and is the largest, sleeping up to 20 people. This makes it perfect for a large group planning to attend the first Goodwood extravaganza of the year. Panoramic sea views make for a spectacular outlook to wake up to every morning, and the spacious kitchen and living areas ensures everyone will have the space to enjoy a seaside break.
The second of our beach houses available for the weekend of the 19th-20th March is Coral Beach House. This single storey seaside villa, with a coral theme throughout, sleeps up to 12 people, and provides the perfect luxury accommodation for Goodwood’s 74th Members Meeting. It boasts a beautiful subtropical garden, and the variety of seating all through the accommodation offers a great chance to relax, if you are looking to sunbath, eat outdoors, or a cosy night in by the fire.
