Take a refreshing coastal walk from one of our luxury beach houses
Stretch your legs and explore outside – it’s the week of the trending #outspiration
Heading to the West Sussex coast for a family holiday on the beach is something we are fortunate enough to have right on our doorstep here in England. You can go from walking out of the office to ambling along a coastal walk from one of luxury beach houses in a matter of hours.
With warmer weather just around the corner, it is time to shake off and stretch out those legs. Nestled on the quiet beaches of West Sussex, and only a short distance from the village of Angmering, our three luxury beach rentals are bursting with walking opportunities. Whether you’re looking for soft beach strolls, or luscious green walks, our baby, children and pet-friendly houses are available for weekend, midweek and week-long bookings. No hiking boots required, simply kick off your shoes, feel the ground between your toes and get ready to explore the breath-taking landscape of the English seaside.
Inhale the fresh sea air and exhale the tension of everyday life with long meandering walks along the shores of West Sussex. With the beach on your doorstep, park your car at the house and simply stroll on. We know how much your four-legged friends mean to you, so you will no doubt be happy to hear that the beaches are dog-friendly all year round. So delight your pups and let them run wild across the vast stretches of the open sprawling beaches.
All this walking is bound to build up an appetite, so make the most of the culinary delights that the beaches have to offer. Wander along fifteen minutes east from the properties and discover the Bluebird Café, voted number one restaurant in Ferring on Trip Advisor. Feeling a little more adventurous, journey 45 minutes west along the beach to find the East Beach Café in Littlehampton which offers seaside classics in a relaxed environment.
Fancy exploring a little further out? Just a five-minute drive in your car will bring you to Highdown Hill. Overlooking Angmering, this National Trust property is a dog walkers paradise. Boasting views of the Seven Sisters and the Isle of Wight on a clear day, it also makes an ideal picnic spot. Treat yourself to some scones and clotted cream at the Highdown Tea Rooms. Not only are they dog-friendly, but they even serve doggy ice cream! (Lucky pup!) And after all this coastal walking, what is more perfect than heading back to a hot tub bubbling at 38 degrees.
Coastal walk options from your Luxury Beach House
Ferring Beach: Take your buckets and nets for some rock-pooling at low tide, followed by some lunch or a hot drink at the BlueBird cafe. There are beach huts, parking and you may also spot some horse riders if you go in the morning.
East : 20 minute walk
Rustington beach: Just along from East Preston, you will find Rustington Beach. Due to its south-westerly winds from the English Channel, this is a popular spot for kitesurfing. Like East Preston beach, it is fairly quiet, and very family friendly.
West : 30 minute walk
Littlehampton: Littlehampton comprises of two beaches: West Beach and the award winning East Beach. Give your feet a rest and take in the view from Britain’s longest beach at East Beach. Or head to West Beach (one of three beaches in West Sussex with sand dune systems) for a more peaceful atmosphere and a stroll through the dunes on wooden walkways.
East: 50 minute walk | West: 1 hour 25 minute walk
Goring Beach: If you love stand-up paddleboarding then this is the place for you. Rent a board from Goring Gap if you are experienced, or try out a lesson or two. This beach is also the launch spot for the fishing boats, so if you are lucky, you may be able to buy some fresh fish as they unload.
East : 1 hour walk
Worthing Beach: This colourful seaside town has plenty of shops, parking and places to grab a bite. Or even try out some watersports such as windsurfing.
East : 90 minutes walk
Climping beach: A quiet dog-friendly beach, this is a great spot to enjoy the sounds of the ocean. Doctor Who fans won’t want to miss this one as it was used as a location in the early series during the 60s and 70s.
West : 2 hour walk
If you’re looking for a garden expedition, Haywards Heath Kew Gardens in Wakehurst is an hours drive away and boasts stunning botanical gardens that you can spend the day wandering around. Activities are also often on site so have a look on their site before you visit on workshops. Or check out the Angmering Park Estate which is closer at only a 10 minute drive away.
With no flight confusion or luggage restrictions to have to worry about, you can fill your car to the brim with everything you might need (and more!) for your walks, alongside your dog, who’s equally as excited for a beach holiday.
West Sussex is the perfect location for a dog-friendly walking holiday this spring.
